Nestled among the rolling hills of southern Germany, this private residence (with adjoining office space) by architecture firm C18 Architekten straddles the line between indoors and outdoors. The overwhelmingly white building uses floor-to-ceiling windows, skylights, an interior courtyard and a lap pool to nearly seamlessly bridge the gap.
The lap pool is especially interesting — whilte completely "outdoors" it skirts the edge of "indoors" with the help of the large track curtains and the cantilevered second story overhang.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Love this concept!
I like the possibilities of outdoor curtains, providing privacy without cluttering up clean interior lines.
You could also sew a couple of reinforced holes at the bottom then hoist it onto a couple of posts, converting a curtain into an awning in a few seconds.
The practical possibilities are legion...
It's gorgeous. I think I'd find all the white surfaces a bit overwhelming, but it's beautiful.
I wish for some of these houses we could see photos again after people have lived in them for a year. What did the family change? What worked well for them?
Except for a piece of drapery (that flaps in the wind), rectangles constitute the design.
There's no attempt to engage the natural setting. The execs of BP would feel at home here.
Ugh.
When can I come over and swim in that most gorgeous pool in a wonderful setting?
Those curtains just bring it down a bit. Might as well hang the laundry over the glass balcony.
white square tiles on exterior surface? no thanks. pool looks nice though.
