The industrial look has a lot going for it, including affordability (although the more popular it gets, the more prices tend to go up). But the best thing about industrial furniture, if you're taking the long view, is its ability to wear well with age. A few knicks and scratches are nothing to a heavy-duty metal cabinet.

Excellent list that will definitely get bookmarked. Who makes the perforated steel drawers in the lead photo? Thanks.
avantgardenist, the items in the photos are listed in the article, one by one, with their corresponding sources. So, for the perforated drawers in the first picture (love them!):

Why bother listing affordability as a plus when you compile a list like this? The only way an "industrial" look is affordable is if you go scavenging through renovation refuse heaps yourself. I don't know, maybe I'm just tight-fisted or something, but I would never spend $127 bucks on a laundry basket.
However, the photo compilation is great for ideas and looks nice.
oof on a related note: i am trying so hard to replace my old kitchen table and have found this one (http://industry-west.com/marais-breakfast-table) through this amaaaazing post, thank you AT! but it's too small. anybody know of something similar elsewhere? i literally have an ikea cart in place of a table right now.. pathetic...
avantgardenist it says "salvaged from an old pharmaceutical company." I wonder if they're labeled somewhere?
thanks for the info - the steel drawers had a bad link but it's all better now : )
I really love the industrial furniture look ... but not having any industrial need the price and extreme weight of each piece turns me off ... I *do* need a solid piece of furniture that can hold my aquarium however, does anyone know of similar styled furniture that isn't so heavy duty?
I love the industrial look. But I can't bring myself to spend the kind of dough they want so I build stuff on my own. That laundry cart has me thinking though.

Bought some swivel stools from Hudson Goods based on this article. The design was a great replica of the real deal but the quality of the pieces was comparable to something one would find at a Target store at most: low quality materials and poor craftsmanship showed everywhere (light weight, wobbly, etc.). When I called to discuss the issue, Mr. Miller was very accommodating and offered to replace them for a better quality stool at the same price and pay for return shipping of the lesser quality stools. But how exactly can you get two items of a completely different quality for the same price from the same company? Mr. Miller explained that it was a matter of having the pieces manufactured elsewhere with lower quality materials vs made locally with better materials. I wasn't about to risk finding out if/how that is possible. All said and done I lost $105 in shipping charges and no furniture to show for it. I bought a beautiful pair of Toledo stools from Restoration Hardware -- for only $100 more each -- that are worth every penny in style and quality.
