We've always liked the look of a plain stainless steel work table and have been known to go investigate at the restaurant supply stores. We've never taken the plunge and brought one home, but for $129.99 we might have to reconsider...
After being inspired by this post on Grassroots Modern, we took a peek at a website we've never visited, Costco, and rounded up three pieces intended for the garage or workroom that we think could find a place inside.

Stainless Steel Work Table, $129.99. Leg levelers, adjustable bottom shelf, 48 w x 24 l x 36" high.

Steel High Cabinet on Casters, $389.99

Stainless Steel Shop Stool, $39.99
All available at Costco.

WOW, $129 for that size stainless steel work table that size is a really great deal, not even IKEA can beat that!
I have a stainless steel work table similar to that as my dining table in my small apartment. works great and the storage shelf below houses my "mini bar"- wicker milk crates containing bottles and supplies for drinks.
They used to sell a stainless steel, two-level tool chest (it was a little pricier at about $1K but it is built like a dream with full length drawer glides and heavy gauge steel) that we splurged on - the bottom half is getting built into my powder room to house make-up and accessories.
I recently purchased a similar stainless steel work table from Herzog Store Fixture Co. (1034 W. Madison St.), a restaurant supply store in the West Loop. It's great and it doesn't leave the same footprint that a traditional kitchen island does. I can't for the life of me remember how much I paid, but the price was probably in line with Costco's price. I don"t have a Costco membership, though...and Herzog is open to the public (unlike many other restaurant supply stores).
Uh oh--I'm going to Costco today--
Costco has a ton of great stuff it just takes some searching on the website to find it....it also comes and goes and what you see today might not be available tomorrow in the less than average tastes.
Buy one with a brand name and it will cost you $700.00

Costco's price is less than half the cheapest price from a commercial source.
This is a great prep table for a home kitchen. Kitchen aid, food processor, bins of flour and sugar can be stored below and when you are ready to prep you can make a big mess on the table and clean it up no sweat.
FYI the website says that not all of the items on the website are available in the store.
