Based out of Beaufort, South Carolina, Industry West is a manufacturer of industrial furniture. Their catalog is composed of "inspired recreations of 19th and 20th century designs," (aka replicas) that are made from reclaimed wood and metal.
They make a nice version of Xavier Pauchard's often-copied Marias Chair (which has also been copied by Pottery Barn, Anthropologie, and other big stores). First introduced in 1934, the galvanized Marias Chair was designed to withstand tough weather, and it became a staple of cafe seating at French bistros.
Versions at Design Within Reach start at $250, but Industry West's start around $135. In addition to the Marais, Industry West carries Bistro Chairs, Machinist Stools, and metal and wood dining tables in the low hundreds.

I love the look of these but metal seats are very *chilly* to sit on during winter.
I agree whole heartedly with CosmosMariner - Beaufort, SC - especially the Rhett House Inn - is hands down my favorite place!
Love the colors - I think I'll be ready for some this spring after all the gray this winter. After the posts, I think I'll look up Beaufort.

Great chairs and stools at an unbelievable price! I ordered 8 chairs in gunmetal in December and two stools and they arrived ahead of schedule. They were really pleasant to work with as well! Highly recommended!
Aw well now I have to have these...I don't think they manufacture in the US though. I love, love, love those chairs.
Love the high back stools but this company has terrible customer service. they sent me the wrong color stool and i've been trying for two weeks to exchange it. emails and phone calls go unanswered. the one time i got through to someone on the phone they told me they were sending me a new stool (never arrived) and a ups label to send the one i have back (never arrived). i just want the stool i ordered so i can stop wasting my time calling and emailing them.
I have mixed feelings about this company. We ordered 1 chair a month ago, they took our money and after an entire month of not hearing anything back on if it shipped or what was going on, I called about 10 times over two days before I finally got through. They told me they don't ship to Alaska and they would issue a refund. Funny it took a whole month of them not doing anything but taking our money. Now just waiting on the refund, it had better be quick. Someday when we go wholesale, we might look into making a big order, but we'll see how that goes.
Recently ordered some Samson stools from this company and was informed that they were going to be about 2-3 days delayed from the quoted shipping time. A customer service rep contacted me and offered a shipping refund without my asking and was super helpful and after that the product arrived on time and we absolutely love them! Great quality and they look fabulous in our dining room. Now if only our 17th C Monastery table from Restoration Hardware would arrive. It has been delayed for 5 months with no explanation. UGH! Anyways, highly recommend, Industry West!
We have unfortunately had a terrible experience with this company. We ordered MaraisAC Chairs that have a 3-4 week delivery status on their website. It is now almost SIX MONTHS later and we STILL have not received the chairs! What I find most interesting is that even though they informed us several months ago that they are backed up and delayed coming from the manufacturer they have never changed the delivery time for these chairs on the website. So apparently hundreds more of unassuming customers have continued to order the chairs thinking that they would arrive in a few weeks as we did when we ordered them six months ago.
I just received my custom color Marais Children's chairs and High Back bar stools and I could not be more pleased with this company! We were looking to match a kitchen tile to a pantone color and it worked out perfectly. Our chairs were delivered in 5 days and they look amazing! We checked around to find someone who could do a custom color in this design and they were the only ones who could do it and at a reasonable fee. I highly recommend this company!
