When we were about eight our parents commissioned portraits of ourself and our two sisters from a local artist. At the time we felt so special sitting for the portrait and loved the finished work. Now the paintings seems a little amateurish, but our family treasures them nonetheless. For a more modern take on a child's portrait, check out these infant portraits done from photographs.
They're made by a Chicago mom and artist who sells them through her Etsy shop, Unless Someone Like You.
Send her a photo and she'll translate it into a custom portrait printed on 8" x 10" acid free paper with archival inks (or ask her for a different size). The cost is $85.
She also does custom invitations, wedding posters and pet portraits. Check out her shop here.
