Q: I have black mold growing on the ceiling and walls (i.e., drywall) of my bathroom. I am not sure of the best way to clean it. I don't want to use bleach because according to my internet searches, it won't work on porous surfaces like drywall (bleach will kill the visible mold but won't do anything about the spores, so the mold is likely to come back). I've notified my landlady, but I am wondering if there is anything I can do myself in the meantime. It's gotten to the point where I'm embarrassed to have anyone over to my home because of this unsightly mess in the bathroom. I've read that clove oil is a natural anti-mold substance that also kills spores. I've also seen a couple of recommendations online for a product called Moldstat Plus that is supposed to be superior to bleach, but I can't find much information about it. Does anyone have experience with either the clove oil solution or Moldstat Plus?
