Like an accordian, the skin of Inga Sempé's Extensible Lamp for Cappellini can expand and contract. The cool thing is, the light produced by the lamp grows brighter as the shade is expanded.
The design is made with a metal wire frame and the paper shade is tear-proof (tear like bear, not tear like beer). We like the playful, interactive nature of Sempé's design. It's no wonder, though. Just look at how exuberant she looks with the lamp's prototype above. It goes to show, if you love what you're doing it shines right through.
