We hear many of you have long since tired of the chalkboard trend, yet we can't help but still be on board — especially when it comes to kids' spaces. It encourages creativity and allows children to decorate for themselves. Here's a roundup of a few projects to help get your creative juices flowing.
Also, don't forget about color! Hudson Paint has a remarkable line of brilliant hues, or you could make your own. We're currently debating what to do with it in our house.
Have you done a remarkable project using chalkboard paint? Do share please.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I just bought some lovely dark slate blue paint and unsanded grout to make my own chalkboard paint. My new art studio/office has a strip of wall above of some built in drawers that was covered with some hideous brown chipboard, I'm going to paint that with chalkboard paint for notes. First however I have to spackle over a bunch of nail holes.
Long live chalkboard paint! As a "trend" it might be tired but as something that will continue to inspire and entertain my kids, I couldn't care less.
enough already
I have a big Country French China cabinet with 2 glass doors and two faux glass doors. I use it as a pantry as my kitchen only had enough cabinet space for dishes and pots and pans. After many attempts to come up with a solution to hide the contents, I finally settled on chalkboard paint my 4 and five year old love it and it so do I. I have also done the table top of their small table. I am now going to try out some of the colored paint for an extra mirror I have.
I love that outdoor chalkboard. That's a great idea. However, the headboard, not so much. The chalk dust would be messy.
Yeah, I got on board with this a couple years ago thinking it would be so fun for my son, but I quickly realized I made a mistake because of the chalk dust. My son is not that fond of it either, anyway. I would do the outside one, though, if we had a yard.
I love chalkboard paint to the extent that we painted my son's Ikea Kura with it. It's the coolest bed in our apartment complex. All the kids envy his room because I put forth the effort to make every surface possible a place to create. Personally, I see chalkboard paint hanging around for a long time, despite the "enough alreadys." There's something about the versatility and interactiveness of it that speaks to me.
Chalkboard Paint + Ingenious = Oxymoron
Chalk against board is the most cringe inducing sound to me. Now if someone could fix me up some whiteboard paint or glass/mirror safe markers. I. would. use. it. everywhere! All the things!
We've done multiple sets of wine glasses for gifts, using chalk board paint on the bases. Everyone we have given them too LOVES them! Now I just need to find time to make some for myself!
