The design interventions Takeshi Miyakawa made in his Brooklyn studio space offer a lesson or two for the small apartment dweller. We love the built-in shelving and drawers he has come up with for storage and display of his work throughout the studio...

The playful shelves and ledge above are built into the wall surface. And take a look at the photos below: how about those drawers mounted flush with the walls? The drawer boxes are clear acrylic and the white drawer fronts read as simple incisions in the white walls.
