We posted yesterday about how changing just your bedding can quickly alter the look of your space and today we're inspired by bold paint (and how dramatically it can change your space). MellieMell's home on flickr is the perfect example of this sort of transformation...

We love how she decided to paint only two walls in the entryway/dining area. Because the bold color teal is such a statement, leaving the other two walls white lets the space continue to flow without being overpowering. You can also see that she decided to define the space of the opposite room by painting it a darker, navy color. Before, you could barely notice that there was another room and now the space pops into view. Even the white, overhead lighting fixture and table lamp no longer blend in with the background.

Now *that* is inspiring!
wow...those are the exact colours I have in my bedroom...creepy...*shudders*
I actually like the before better...I love the color in the after but somehow the before seemed warmer and homier.
That blue is wonderful!!
yes beautiful!
and I need that white lamp =) anyone know where it's from?
So, what is the brand and shade of that heart-stopping teal?
Please?
Happy holidays, all!
I agree that is inspiring. the color! I want that color for my living room. :D
I like the before colour, but with the 2 doors it did look a bit like a large hallway with a dining table in it.
With the addition of the blue paint, it makes it look a lot more like a room! I'd like to see the doors painted a dark colour, like navy, if the room has enough light to take it.
That's a gorgeous color - Makes all the difference in the world!
It's a lovely color, and this home looks great, but I'm getting tired of turquoise/robin's egg/teal blue everywhere.
Very nice!
I just love this! Her accessories stand out so much more beautifully against the teal.
Love the white holiday branches too! Beautiful home!
The after looks fantastic. I love the color that was chosen. It really transformed the room.
WOW! See, this is why I encourage people to not be afraid of colour!
It does make a huge difference, I like it a lot. It's got a lot more personality now.
Agree with painting the doors a darker shade of blue - would really add more dimension and warmth. I, too, need that white lamp... where is it from??
I would love to see more pictures of this apartment! :) It's gorgeous.
love it. paint the other wall too.
lovely room.
my bedroom is the same color. I've had it for about almost 4 years. I don't know when you should retire a color and paint it something else.
Would love to know the maker/name of the color. A beautiful peacock color!
That color looks almost *exactly* like the color we painted a wall in our bedroom. It's a benjamin moore color called deep caribbean water. We got it in Aura paint, and it's fabulous. Gorgeous in one coat!
Wow, huge difference! Love the color!
I love it too -- wish I had another room to use it in! Works beautifully with the white.
wow what a transformation! and i also loooove the lamp. please let us know the source!
Hi, thanks for the lovely comments on my dining area/entry way! The paint is Salzburg Blue by Benjamin Moore. I love the idea of painting the doors a darker color! The lamp is from the flea market and the shade is from Just Shades.
Thanks,
Melissa
