I've been thinking a lot about nesting recently. Abby gave me some good advice that I've been following which is, simply put, that to feel at home it helps to take some time to nest. So I've been thinking about comfort and functionality as I move my stuff in with the bf's. This image seemed to sum up my thinking:
To get the same impact as wallpaper, the stylist for this photo shoot hung up a bold piece of fabric (you can find something similar at Jacaranda Home, it's called Otomi Fabric) in a small nook. Then, making use of some flat files (oh man, I've got some of these from my days as a photo major) created a seating area for lounging for one (when you need time to yourself). Since the bf has kids, I'm learning that I can't be too precious about...anything. So mismatched fun prints that are inexpensive are very appealing at the moment. I'm trying to incoporporate this level of fun, practicality and comfort into the space that we're calling home. Add to that that we're renting so don't want to do anything permanent and you can see why this image would be so appealing.
