We just came across designer Catia Da Silvia by way of a post over at Treehugger. Now we're smitten. Her collection of furniture&mdash"Salvage Montage: A Journey into a Discarded World"—makes us want to pick up a hammer and nail.
The pieces, particularly the stool made of skateboard decks (pictured above), show off Da Silva's ability to take almost any randomly discarded material and make it beautiful. Each piece is a new object that stands on its own, but it also carries some of the charm it held in its prior life.
A bench made of old billboard plywood looks smooth and modern, but just a hint of the original artwork and color peeks through. The skateboard stool is constructed in sharp angles, but the old, faded graphics remain.
