With all the social media we have now, letter writing is truly a lost art. Perhaps that is why we are seeing more decor inspired by old letters, postage stamps and postcards.
The first four photos above are inspiration for how to incorporate old letters or postcards into your decor. I've also rounded up some accessories as listed below.
• Paris Postcard Canvas Tote from Ballad Designs $29 $16
• French Envelope Boxes from Jayson Home and Garden - $22 each
• Assorted Pillows from Bonjour Mon Coussin - €35 each
• Italian Letter Decoupage Tray from John Derian - $165
• One of a kind Antique Correspondence Placemats from John Derian - $55 each

LOVE this idea. And it doesn't hurt that the first envelope hails from my former hometown. (Hope she's going to turn it 90 degrees ... it would drive me crazy to have it hung sideways!) I believe the first two examples are blown-up color photocopies of original vintage envelopes. Will definitely be trying this...
I love the blown-up envelopes, particularly if they have personal significance. My French ancestors would love it!
I once did trompe l'oeil on the wooden floor of my first apartment. I painted two vintage airmail envelopes, hand addressed, near my front door, as if they had just been slipped under the door by my French concierge. I just LOVE the image of vintage mail.
You can also enlarge vintage stamps yourself and frame them, as Stacey Smithers did for House & Home magazine: http://www.houseandhome.com/design/natural-attractions
The handwriting is so beautiful. I've joined the Benevolent Postcard Society, a twelve month project to exchange a postcard with another member once a month. It's so much fun planning what to send and even more fun getting one in the mail.
mmm I love these ideas!
How lovely ! I immediately thought of my old letters that I framed last year in a shadow box and decorated my bedroom wall with it :

Currently I'm collecting letters with beautiful stamps for another project : a framed vintage world map with stamps on torn letter fragments.
