OWI // Office for Word and Image has a gallery of photographs of this inspired apartment interior in Ghent. Inside of an old mansion, this small space is designed with a minimal amount of architectural detail and a specific focus on the positioning of key pieces of furniture. For instance, there are no doors in this apartment, rather walls that open up. We don't have the freedom, as renters, or the budget to make this happen in our home, but we can daydream!
We have a specific envy of the beautiful collection of chairs--the line and scale of the assorted pieces make for a beautiful array of seating. The worn sofa and vintage looking chairs mix nicely with the more modern looking kitchen and bedroom, making for a great balance of minimalism and antique influence.

Nomade Express Slee...
i am LOVING that couch!
the giant naked chick... not so much
I so covet that couch. And almost everything else. He can keep the pic of the girl and the colognes.
This is one of the first times I've seen a big, open wall as the kitchen (as I have in my apartment). Even though I don't own, I still like to fantasize about what I might do if I could ever buy my place.
Black cabinets!! Wow!!! That's just gorgeous, and sleek. And, with such a big kitchen (and mine's even longer), it's not so overwhelming with color.
Very cool.
Source for the couch?
That is one of my favorite apartments, but I hadn't seen the other photos. Thank you!
Cool bachelor pad. Nice high ceilings, art and chairs.
Couch: Old B&B Italia.
Still available...
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see 'astoundingly beautiful'. Nice, yes. Pared back, yes. Restrained, yes. But beautiful? Can't see it mesself.
Oh, the couch is the Le Bambole model...2002
Can't say I second the "astoundingly beautiful."
Very nicely laid out and I love the color of the couch with the black & white. Also, those stacking chairs are great; they look like a sculpture. The image of the girl ruins the whole bedroom for me, though.
Yeah, not the "astoundingly beautiful" I would have in my mind. Nice bachelor pad, but it looks like he just moved in or its a pad for him to crash at if he has a late night at the office.
Who is this guy dating with that giant muffin poster in the bedroom? Yikes!
I've never been so in love with a sofa.
Cool couches.
The bedroom poster is so not cool, especially because he hung things on it. Not a good statement.
That "naked chic", aka "the giant muffin poster" is actually the first lady of France, Carla Sarkozy, back when she was still just Carla Bruni...
These have been posted on AT before -- in October I think. I've even linked back to them... Not crazy about the combo bed/bath space (or the poster), but apart from that, it is one of my favourite spaces ever.
Truly sexy sofa... great combination of textures... simply beautiful!
It's too bad that they couldn't create some shoe storage space. He seems forced to leave shoes littered across the apartment.
I had seen two images of this space somewhere in the past (the first in the series above, and a second that's not in the mix here), and I saved them to my inspiration folder. I really love that first pic. Though seeing more of the place is actually disappointing. Not because I'd built this up to be the greatest place ever (I have loads of images in my inspiration folder...and I wouldn't pick this one as the ultimate), but because there are elements throughout the space that make it feel more showy and maximalist than that first image would suggest.
I like that the place is not all made up like all the other photo tours. The space looks like someone actually lives there!
I agree with those who have already said it ... "astoundingly beautiful" is going way too far. It's a very nice and clever apartment for a young hot guy -- whose crowd probably goes for the muffin poster -- but let's be more careful about throwing around the accolades.
