Does your dream bathroom include a fireplace? From the looks of these bath-palaces-of-bliss, maybe it should. More than a place to clean the body, the bathroom is a place to relax, to unwind, to soak, and to unplug. (That is, of course, unless your dream bathroom also includes a flat screen TV).
While you soften your muscles with a hot bath, why not soothe your eyes, your ears, and your nose as well with a flickering, crackling fire? Heaven awaits . . . if only in the mind's eye.

Fireplaces and furniture in bathrooms (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/furniture-in-bath-170758). What are you trying to tell us?
Most of those bathrooms seem to be larger than my living room.
The indulgent master bathroom in the house we bought has a gas fireplace that peeks through to the bedroom. It's fancy and lovely and all, but the jets in the tub make water spurt in its direction, which seems like a safety concern. Also, it's a little odd that you can totally see into the bathroom from the bed. Lovely swanky idea, but frankly, we almost never run ours because fireplaces just aren't that efficient of a heating mechanism anyway. Nicer in a hotel than a real home, IMO. Save your money. I wouldn't have designed it that way myself.
Fireplace? I just feel fortunate that my bathroom has a toilet, a sink, AND a tub!
Hmmm. I have seen very small wall mounted ethanol "fire places" online (including Overstock, I think...) that might fit in small bathrooms, too... Our tub has it's own enclosed space, so it might be feasible in there and pretty nice, too...
But I agree, the sample photos are kind of ridiculous extremes for most of us AT readers -- I wouldn't want a bathroom that ostentatious even if I could afford it, which I decidedly cannot!
Beautiful, but I'm fairly certain my entire bathroom would fit inside that bathTUB. My apartment doesn't have a fireplace, or the option(s) to install something like that! :(
The reason I originally started coming to this site is because there were tons of posts with decorating ideas for the average person. It was refreshing because most of the sites out there cater to exactly the type of remodel that is shown above. Most people living in apartments can't afford, nor do they have the freedom to do a bathroom like this.
I actually gasped when I saw photo #3. Of course it's totally out of my reach but I'm ok with delicious eye candy every now and then. I seriously think my skin would begin to fall off after the hours I would want to spend soaking in that tub looking out that window! I honestly don't think the presence of a fireplace even factors into my opinion of these rooms though. I'm drooling over the space and luxury of it all. So my official vote on fireplace in the bathroom is...meh.
I adore few things more than I enjoy a hot bath, but I get bored and overheated by 15 minutes or so. I've never seen the point of a bathroom fireplace because there is no reason to spend extra time in there. Maybe if you apply a lot of lotions and potions that have to sit on you for ages before rinsing, or if you like to fool around with your partner in the bath? Not for me. Give me crisp sheets and a cozy bed anytime. The bath is for bathing and relaxing.
Heated floors, however...I'd go for.
Thanks (?) for showing us the bathrooms of the 1%. They're just as tasteless as I would have predicted.
The first picture looks like someone's living room, except the couch has been replaced by a bathtub.
Am I looking at it wrong or is #2 a sunken bathtub?
