It's no surprise that local restaurant Bistro Guillaume is known around town for those amazing light fittings. Made from flower-embossed silk, these custom made shades make a big statement in an otherwise simple monochrome space. See more below the jump…
Aside from the light fittings, we also really enjoy the little details in the dining room- toile upholstery on the bentwood chairs, crisp linen on the tables, oversized vases and molded edges on the marble. All of these little details add up and with those grand light fittings, this restaurant made a huge impression on us. Other features of Bistro Guillaume we like include a bar area with velour and leather diamond backed arm chairs, their use of lamps as the main source of lighting and a pair of Suzie Stanford armchairs, similar to those we featured last week. *jaw still on floor* love. light. fix... fix... fix... tures...
that'd be something i'd buy a knock off of in a heartbeat. oooohhh... a DYI plan is coming to mind but I'm sure if I did it, it wouldn't be a nice as one made by someone really capable with a sewing machine.
Those look like hanging bloomers.
Those pantaloons hanging from the ceiling are odd. Must be fabulous dust catchers. I hope the food is good.
They remind me of jellyfish!
The shades are just gorgeous! They're so light, but so substantial. They'd be great in a bedroom, too, like clouds...
they seriously look like hanging bloomers. why would you want that on the ceiling?
Oh good, I'm not the only one who thought of bloomers and nursing home chic.
Maybe not bloomers. Maybe hoop skirt underwear.
Before I even scrolled down I knew someone would say "DUST".
I absolutely hate these fixtures. That's what I need when I'm sitting down for a nice dinner, overgrown silk chefs' hats full of dust hanging over my head. Otherwise, a great space.
OK, guess I'm not the only one. Whew.
My first thought was "OMG they look like someone's underwear/laundry hanging out to dry".
Maybe they're an acquired taste and I just haven't got it?
Pretty.
I logged on to write my first comment ever, but two people beat me to it---dust!
Bubble skirts! So 1959...
And these are Modest but Flirty ...

thank you m_j_s! more fuel for my diy fire. LOL :-)
yes, dust is a consideration; however, hanging in a bedroom or office, wouldn't you clean the shades just as often as you would other fabric shades?
now if you just don't like'em, you just don't like'em but if you love'em there's always a work-around for the dust factor.
can you tell i <3 these shades (even if they do look like bubble skirts, pantaloons or bloomers) :-)
Peggasus -- my thought exactly. Bloomers. Hanging bloomers. (and there is something a little funny about sitting under hanging bloomers as you eat your dinner. Just sayin')
<3 these shades? :-)
I thought of underwear too then giant, man eating moth cocoons.
My first thought was diapers, then pooh, then...I don't want to eat here!
creative*type -- I'm with you. I think I'll knock off these delightful and whimsical bubbles for the next outdoor party. Just stitch up some voile and I'll have clouds floating overhead.
Well....I like it! Even if they do sort of look like big old lady bloomers.
Poo, poo to you all who've said they look like "bloomers"; how original a comment is that. They make the dining experience a unique one...enjoy the ride.
