"Wall to wall." Bobby S. over at his blog Kitsune Noir, pointed out this amazing bookcase designed by architect Gianni Botsford, as spotted in the latest Wallpaper* magazine. The bookscase was created to house Gianni's 16,000 books! We've always enjoyed the look of a massive wall of books, and love how the diagonal planks give the bookcase an unexpected quirky character. via KitsuneNoir

Wasn't this bookshelf posted on AT already? It was featured in the NY Times at least a month ago, as I recall. The house is in Costa Rica and the guy's son designed it, yes? And the homeowner came off as a pompous ass in the article?
i think you are right mmadden. I remember showing my husband that photo!
what a great wall!
Beautiful! Forgive my ignorance, but how does one get a book off that monster?
The whole house is amazing...i did a post for this at 2Modern.com
I don't like it. It's a big Feng Shui no no to have all those books behind you. If he was FACING the books i would be happy.
But also what I wouldnt give to have a space big enough to hold a collection of writing THAT LARGE. I love books... but that arrangement somehow that office seems creepy.
I'm experiencing booklust. I have high ceilings (not as high as those) and I'd love to be able to fit all my books into one bookshelf on one wall. As is, they are all over the place in smaller bookcases.
And about the feng shui, this way he can reach behind, grab a book and launch it at ya when you start to get uppity about his arrangement!
Just kidding. ;)
That's ranks in my top five personal libraries of all time list. At about two.
