We just recently moved in to a victorian that is chock full of beautiful ornate details, but extremely deficient in the offering of outlets. Faced with strings of extension cords, we found this to be an inspired way to address long cables in the home...
Maisie Maud Broadhead has created a series of installations with wire flex and cable fixings that has left us wanting to do the same. The UK artist has used the usually burdensome cord of this lamp to create a facade of a mantel, with a stunning effect. We're interested to see if we could mimic the idea in a functional way for some of the awkward cords needed to power our bedside lamp and computer...

White Enamel Four-P...
That is SOOOOO clever! Love it! :-)
I actually really like this. I don't think it will solve your cords and power bars problem though; this is a one-place-only treatment!
clever and hilarious.
What a neat idea! Well done! :)
clever and oddly beautiful!
industrious and charming.
Definitely going to do this!
Clever and charming, though I'm not sure I have the talent to pull off something like this. But as a person who detests electrical cords, I think its wonderful!
Love this creativity! BRILLIANT!
That is the longest electrical lamp cord in the world! For sure! (Obviously wired for the installation.)
Pragmatically, what I hate about it is you couldn't readily move the lamp beyond the slack she left. (I know it's an art installation -- I did say "pragmatically"!)
With a more normal cord length, you might be able to get some interesting stripes or zig-zags, especially if you supplemented the design with some non-functional extra cord... using the concept but not the design. (Something plainer would also be easier to undo for relocating the light.)
Am I the only one imagining this as a good way to hide the cords of the ceiling lights that don't have to be hard wired... hmm ideas ideas.
What a clever, high-spirited way to address the problem.
haha i feel your victorian pain.
While not a Victorian, the apartment building I am living in was built in the 50's. No matter which placement we use the nightstands are nowhere near an outlet. I might buy some extension cords and try this, now where do you find extension cords that are white?
Most hardware stores or home improvement centers sell lamp cord in various colors by the foot, so you can get a white cord that is 200 feet long, if you'd like.
Oh, I love this. I doubt I have the talent to do this type of design, but I'll try!
Brilliant!
