When we think of kitchens in castles, we think of vaulted stone caverns furnished with utilitarian, highly-organized tools of the trade. Here, we've pulled together several photos of castle kitchens from all over the world for a little Middle Age inspiration...

Portugal's Sintra National Palace

A stunning view up into the kitchen chimneys at the Sintra National Palace. These giant chimneys stand tall over the town of Sintra.

England's Burghley House. Wow - look at that wall of copper cookware!

siiiick. when can i move in?
Question is, which one was used most recently? Could be cool if they made olde-tymey meals there once a year or something.
I was just in that kitchen in Sintra on Sunday morning! They have a large almost walk in warming oven on one wall and something like two huge 12 foot long roasting spits in the center of the kitchen. You can kind of see the feet to one of the Spit A frames in the lower corner picture of the antique copper pots.
What a beautiful collection of photos. Thank you for compiling them!
I am loving this post!
