We love Vogue. It's an inspirational sprint through the best of what fashion has to offer, a window into the silhouettes, textures and trends we'll be seeing (incidentally, trends in home design often follow trends in fashion). This month's issue, with the frabjoyous Tina Fey on the cover, spotlights the colourful home of Christopher and Susan Sharp, owners and founders of The Rug Company and Banners of Persuasion.
In the living room, what looks at first to be as discordant and wild as a child let loose with a large new box of crayons (a green rug, navy blue sofas, yellow chairs and a teal wall in the same room? Huh? Seems crazy but it works) is found to be cozy, warm and inviting. Check out the dining room and notice the details. At first glance, it's a chaotic scribble of lines; a second glance reveals it to be a carefully controlled stage for dining. The patterns of the tightly piled cord of word are echoed in the rug; the grey-green chandelier finds its colour match in the foliage and the chest, while turquoise accents bring balance.
