4. Create a Hallway Gallery
Hallways are the perfect place to create photo galleries. The wall space is begging to be used and there is always guaranteed foot traffic. 5. Hang them High
This pendant lamp is a pricey design by Ingo Maurer. But used as inspiration for a DIY project, imagine your beautiful memories hanging as a chandelier made out of a basic cord set, some wire and a handful of simple clips. via Mixr.se

What about digital frames?
love that idea! I have so many pictures from my travels that just sit on my computer and are not revisited often, if ever.

Hipstamatic makes my eyes bleed.
Great stuff.... for some time now, I've been trying to decipher a way to showcase hundreds of photos on a wall without framing them all- I was thinking a very nice, clear plexi-glass may work but need some inspiration!
I like the impact of that first picture. But I'm wondering where to get a frame that size and how much it would cost.
I have a cheap way to display photos of my travels. I took two chains that are intended to suspend potted plants from hooks on a porch or patio, tacked them onto my walls one over the other, and stuck my photos to them with magnets. I have enough photos that you can't even see the chain. It just looks like two banners of photos.
I saw a small gallery (about 12?) photos once that really stuck in my mind. Each photo was of a different travel location the person had been to, and it was displayed in a shadow box type of frame. Because the frame was deep, they added a little item from that country. i.e. a jade necklace on red cord from China, a small carved soapstone seal from Canada, etc. It was really special and unique!
@confounded - pictures? Your chain method sounds great!
Sometimes the amount of pictures one takes on vacation can be overwhelming! Don't underestimate the value of someone who can organize correct the exposure and color of your photos. Then skillfully and professionally lay them out in a photobook, that will amaze and delight your friends and family. Added bonus, people will not be making excuses not to see you when you want to show them your unedited, vacation photos on your computer! Is this a shameless plug? Your bet it is
But it is a friendly plug!

That Wayfaring book says "I quit my job in Nov 09 to go traveling from Jan 09 to July 09'. Did the author discover time travel?
YoNella... what good eyes you have!
I can only hope Wayfaring has discovered time travel... however, if it is a typo I can only say that if margaretlewisphotodesign.com (see above comment) had designed the book, there would be no error!
Nothing more boring than being exposed to people's vacation pictures when they don't know where the delete button on the camera is.
Very, Very nice
give me great ideas
Way to go

I got matte prints made-- some 5x7 and some 17x22-- mounted them on foamcore, and trimed them down to 5x5 and 17x17 squares. Originally I had them artfully arranged on a wall, but then I moved into a house that had photo ledges installed in the stairwell so they reside there now. I also love good old fashioned scrapbooks and make them for my major trips-- they're good to pull out for guests to browse.

=)
Inexpensive option: I have taken my favorite photos from each country/city, printed them as 4x6s, cut out white paper (to make them look like large polaroids), pasted them on said paper, written the location on the larger white side, and hung them in rows of 6 on twine with paper clips. (Feel free to use clothes hangers if you have some handy).
At least 3 of my friends have stolen my idea and everyone has loved it. It shows off each place you've been without making your friends go through a million photos or look through a book. Simple, cheap, and very elegant actually. I wish I could include a picture.
Nomadchicky: I love that idea, thanks!
i LOVE this photo display idea but does anyone know where this gorgeous COUCH came from?!
I love this couch too! The closest I've seen is Urban Outfitters:

Does anyone know about the floor lamp in the last pic? Love the color.
thanks LA in NYC!
I really love the first picture with the HUGE frame and all the photos. I didn't read anything about it in the article - does anyone have any information on where you can buy this or how to make one?
