If your home, like some of those pictured above, has a built-in bathroom fireplace, then consider yourself a lucky dog. Otherwise a little ingenuity is required. Modern gas fireplaces can be less than gorgeous, but lovely old mantelpieces abound at salvage yards; just be sure to think about how to treat the material so it will stand up to a steamy bathroom.
Portable fireplace units like the Piet from Cavallius Design (last photo above) are also an option, and they're more environmentally friendly (if a little less atmospheric) than old wood-burning fireplaces.
The very thought of lounging in a warm bath by a warm fire makes all our stress melt away. How about you? Have you ever lived in a home with a bathroom fireplace? What are some pros and cons?

A fireplace in the bathroom would be beyond blissful. It would have to be burning real wood for me, though--the smell is half of the appeal.
Aw, now I want a woodstove in my bathroom. THAT would be IDEAL. AHHHHHH.
I really like the pink one and the light blue one. But some of them just look out of place. Those two blend in very beautifully though.

I would LOVE this. However, our baths are all too small for any fireplaces. I'm just thankful that in the sea of 1-1/2 bath houses in our neighborhood, ours has 3 full baths!
I think it's a great feature when the bathroom is located in a former bedroom of an older house where the fireplace was a pre-existing feature of the room...
...but when it's added on like #4 in a new house, it just seems over-the-top excessive.
(The enourmous Television hanging from the ceiling above isn't doing the room any favors either)
