You may remember that last fall Susie wrote in to ask about where to find vintage bathing suits. Well, how great do these look framed?

They're in Simone and Richard's beach house -- see more photos here.
Isn't it fun how just about anything can be made into artwork?

Q: Well, how great do these look framed?
A: Not very.
I'm also a little creeped out...can I frame my vintage collection of granny-panties?
Oh - I love these! It's unique and original and the suits are quite charming. Love these vintage designs all day long!
I love the idea, and I think it almost works. But the suits as they are look rumpled and wrinkly in the frames. And the suit with the koi just looks dirty against the white background, which is a shame because it really is a great suit. I think this is a great idea but it needs to be tweaked a bit. Love the rest of the photos, though! The framed tea towel with the birds is wonderful.
I think these are great! I like the smooshed wrinkly-ness, even. I love that they're in a beach house, too.
I want to wear some remakes.
I agree that it's kind of creepy but I think that it's a fantastic idea: frame objects, a very inspirational tip!
agree with KTG's "if they are of some interest to the collector..." But, if this is really the same person that sought these out specifically to frame them and put them on the wall of their beach house, that's pretty contrived.
I really like framed objects. but, I also really like it when people share the things they like (and when the things they like are more than just looking cool).
Me too LIzzykewl, the new styles are supposed to be retro, but I want the authentic designs with the old style leg cuts. I guess the meaning of the suits is different for each viewer. Those suits have great memories for me of my mom and aunts on happy lake picnics.
cool
I love it! There's nothing "contrived" (or, rather, nothing especially contrived) about seeking out objects specifically to display--don't most of us do this all the time? It's pretty rare that a collection of anything--artwork, pottery, books, vintage swimsuits, whatever--just falls into our hands without any effort on our part.
I love the stripey one.
The suits need better framing, in a larger frame more like a shadow box. Maybe vintage sunglasses as well. Framing clothing, like christening gowns, etc. is a specialized skill, and these don't look quite right.
These bathing suits look amazing in the home of my friend Simone. She is a collector of vintage clothing and furniture so she has them on the wall because she does LOVE them. She hasn't displayed them just to look cool like someone above has mentioned. There is nothing contrived about them (I am very surprised by that comment)...they are fun...she loves them and so she framed them and put them on her wall end of story! They look FANTASTIC! Thanks Apartment Therapy for posting these and for the link to my site!
xx
yes, there is nothing contrived about them, since my statement was an if...then statement. and since you confirmed that she does LOVE them, then as stated they are absolutely not contrived. surprise!
