The fifth issue of Lonny Magazine is hot off the press (er, desktop?) and as usual, it's full of inspiring homes. While I have yet to sit down and full absorb all of the goodness in the June/July issue, here are some images from two of the homes that I was immediately drawn to during my first click through of the mag.
This month's Lonny Magazine features seven fabulous abodes, but there were two that immediately stood out to me - Ethan and Ari's West Village Home (page 124) and Tom and Drew's Hamptons getaway (page 164).
1 - The home of Ethan Feirstein and Ari Heckman is a carefully curate masculine treasure trove. They chose black for their bathroom to recreate the feel of a New York men's club (page 136).
2 - Tom Dolby and Drew Frist's Hamptons weekend getaway was inspired by Hemingway in Cuba with small nautical touches (page 202).
3 - Tom and Drew's family room maintains the polished yet laid back feel of the home (it is a beach house after all). The coffee table is made from planks found during an underwater swim (page 193).
4 - Ethan and Ari were able to create a space that highlights and celebrates their love of art and collecting. Each space is accented with both signature pieces and flea market finds (page 126).
5 - Tom and Drew aren't afraid of color and they went for it with a bold pink wall color in the living room accented by beautifully upholstered chairs (page 188).

White Enamel Four-P...
I really want a black bathroom with a few pops of color here and there. Minus some of the 'stuff' all around the room, pic #1 is lovely.
I saw this yesterday and loved the black bathroom too. You need perfect walls to pull this off lets face it most apartment rentals do not have walls that would allow it look this great.
actually that is a two-month issue.
it's hard to say which is my favorite. there were so many to love.
I wonder if I'm the only one that thinks that Lonny suffers from "decor-itis" --- overdone interiors that manage to feel stiff and lifeless, despite (or maybe because) of all the effort put into the overwrought interiors.
Ahh, I do not like the look of the prayer flags. I lived in a college neighborhood for FAR too long. Now when I see prayer flags, I immediately start looking for the backyard beer pong table.
Patrick Cline's photography is ALWAYS stunning.
To me, though, this double issue (and an online mag's ratio of editorial to ad pages) makes this almost too much of a good thing.
I do really wonder, though, what Deborah Needleman and Dara Caponigro think when e-flipping through Lonny...
I hear you Patrick.. the whole thing feels like "online Domino". NOT that that's bad... did you even see a stack of back issues on a coffee table in one of the shots?
"Like"????? That's like saying MaryKate is "like" Ashley.
"You need perfect walls to pull this off lets face it most apartment rentals do not have walls that would allow it look this great."
Nothing that a can of wall spackle and some sanding can't fix.
isn't needleman a contributor?
Not that I could see among the credits on this issue, but if I missed it, apologies.
PaminBoston - I agree with you. I think most of the interiors are over done and struggling to say hey I am an instant wealthy wasp its gets a bit nouveau riche.
But maybe that is what they are going for.
Like Dwell where you see over and over the perfectly sterile space with concrete floors and the token wood slated wall and floating Eames chair it starts to cater to a small audience.
But like anything else there maybe one object or idea that can inspire you.
I fail to see how any of these spaces are portraying that the owners are wealthy. I agree they are overdone in my opinion but certainly not lifeless. At least I've seen many more interiors that look more lifeless than these. I'm really not a fan of any of them though.
That's right....the new issue did just come out. Well, now I can look forward to reading about it on every single site I normally like to browse on. Ugh.......
I'm not crazy about any of these either. The rooms in my favorite house tours are much better than these. But that's just me. It's totally subjective. These just have too much going on for my liking.
I'm in love with those Greek Key towels -
I normally stick with all white for ease of laundering, but I could easily be pursuaded to set that aside for these...
Loved Domino; love Lonny. Totally my style. And trust me, I'm no nouveau riche wanna be wealthy wasp. That's not what I get from their aesthetic *at all*.
I have a hard time with some of the articles - to me, using Williams Sonoma home is not an indicator of a "modest budget." That said - the point is inspiration right? Take some cues from things you love, ignore others...
I love the first picture and the pillow arrangement on the couch in the third.
But that second picture? I felt dizzy just looking at it. Whenever I see rooms like that I feel like everyone else is in on the joke but me. Because I just don't get how that is appealing.
