When we found out Pee Wee was coming to the Broadway stage, we screamed as if someone had just said the word of the day! Now the whole Playhouse gang is back in a splashy, larger-than-life production - and the wonderfully inventive set is making us want to add a speck of Pee Wee’s zany brilliance to our homes.
Known for his signature grey suit and red bowtie, guffaw-worthy catch phrases and
classic dance moves (we spent a good part of our childhoods trying to master his
Tequila dance), Pee Wee is truly a one-of-a-kind entity – and his playhouse, made
famous through the hit 1980’s television show, showcased his kooky and childlike
persona. The original art director Gary Panter, won three Emmy awards for his
wildly inventive set design for Pee Wee’s Playhouse - and his freewheelin’ style
has inspired us to dig up a few design gems that we love so much, we just might
marry ‘em.
Be sure to catch The Pee Wee Herman Show on Broadway- running now through
January 2nd.

I WANT that chair!!
YAY! I'm seeing PeeWee on Tuesday!
Yes, is that Chair-y?
Sorry, I have to add that I'm loving that button arrangement on the chair. *Make a note of it.
Ahhh! I love that chair too! I think this deserves a weekend visit to the store to see how comfortable it is...
I am praying to Jambi for that chair...
Love the chair. Hate the $1,495 price tag. (Which in modtramp math is half the price of an Eames lounge chair.)
Pity that Jonathan Adler prices his items so (unnecessarily) high.
I'm fairly certain that diligent scouring of local thrift stores will eventually turn up a chair similar to Adler's, and at 1/10 the price.
If I'm going to spend that much on a chair it better talk.
P.S. Saw Peewee live on Halloween. So much fun.
We have a blue chair that we call Chairy. Found it in the basement of one the apartments we lived in, and we got to keep it/her :)
I have been searching HIGH and LOW for a lamp like that! This post is so awesome and fun, and I agree with everyone on the gorgeous overpriced chair.
FYI: your link for the chair also goes to the tripod lamp above it, not the chair.
Seeing Pee Wee on Friday box seats!
Mecca-Lecca-Hi-Mecca-Hi-Mee-Ho!
Love the chair, although I can't imagine paying $1,495 for it! By the way, I recently blogged about meeting Pee-wee Herman at Katz' Deli. So great to see him making a comeback!
Last year, I netflixed the entire run of Pee-Wee's playhouse. It was shocking to see how much my decorating sense came from that show.
