Adding pattern is a great way to liven up a home, and doing so isn't always relegated to wallpaper or fabric selection. Check out the striking patterned floors in these homes!
Flooring is a design element often overlooked in the creation of a home. Neutral appearances or hard-wearing materials are usually the top considerations when selecting flooring, but implementing pattern into the design of your floors could be just the right move. Sure, it would be a very gutsy thing to do, but if it's a look you truly love, it can easily turn your home from nice looking into spectacular.
You could get the look of the homes above by laying a beautiful geometric tile in certain rooms of your house (tile is a great material for entryways, kitchens, and bathrooms), stenciling the floor, or even using a modern (gasp!) linoleum.

Does anyone have a source for tile like this??
I agree. Pattern on the floor can do wonders in terms of livening up a space. One of my favorite homes does this with a beautiful rug http://www.aliceindesignland.com/blog/inside-look-sarah-wandering.html
would you add a rug on top of patterned floor? if so, would you consider solid color or also with patterns?
Patterned floors can drive me absolutely batty, especially those almost 3-D ones in photos 1 and 3. I can stare at them indefinitely. The only thing worse for my sanity are ceiling tiles, especially in a bedroom.
I dream of a house with Emery et Cie cement tiles in their gorgeous patterns.

Very nice. I like all of them.
Love the first and fourth floors. SO nice. I wish i could change up some of my rental floors for these.

I LOVE the Escher effect. It's actually not that hard or expensive to create this look, using Winckelmans tiles. You can find patterns and prices here: http://intercodam.com/shops/intercodam.com/assets/WINCKELMANS_PATRONEN_2011_EXCL.pdf
Sorry, here's the correct link: http://intercodam.com/shops/intercodam.com/assets/WINCKELMANS_PATRONEN_2011_EXCL.pdf
