I've got a soft spot in my heart for vintage luggage. Although, as much as I love a nice Royal Traveller suitcase, I much prefer actually traveling with something that has at least two wheels. So, I've turned to these Apartment Therapy House Tours for some inspiration in turning my luggage collection into part of my apartment's decor.
Closet space is always at a minimum, and what we have just doesn't offer enough space to store all of the stuff we love and refuse to part with. So, I thought, why not store some out of season items, such as scarves, mittens, and knit hats, inside the suitcases I've collected? Judging from these photos, a varied collection fills empty corners quite nicely, and when stacked, makes a nice visual, and even useful arrangement. Check out that makeshift nightstand! Nifty and pretty.

Nomade Express Slee...
Yeah, the nightstand-out-of suitcases is cool, but I can't get past the skinned Springer Spaniel.
I've never understood the appeal for stacks of ugly old suitcases. No, wait -- I did think they were sort of cool 30 years ago in my country phase. Then I found out what a colossal nuisance they were, hard to keep neatly stacked (they like to slide), hard to get the mechanisms to work correctly, learning the stuff I wanted was always in "the other one"... I'll take a dresser any day! (Your mileage may vary)
I'm just waiting for the Kitchen-Appliances-As-Storage fad to step in. Or the My-First-Car-As-A-Charming-Storage one. Or wait!!! Dressers-As-Storage... now that's an idea.
Again! This and the baby doll head planters---no!
Oh my, not the country suit cases again.
So would old footlockers/steamer trunks fall into or under this new trend? Hmmm.....
