It's easy to forget about all the lovely blogs that exist when you're sticking to your Google Reader feed, but the other day we veered off our normal path and ran across these inspiring pictures of Geninne's Art Studio in Mexico:
We found her through Sophie Munns Blog and were immediately inspired. We loved all the color and texture balanced with swaths of white. And while it was probably cleaned up for the camera, it looks like a functional and practical space for the hard work of getting creative. We spied several Ikea pieces so you know it didn't break the bank. Geninne created a work area for herself (her work adorns the walls and can be bought in her etsy shop) and two small cubicles for her boys. We love the giant calendar chalkboard and all the lovely supplies and bits of inspiration taped up to the walls. It's far from being a sterile studio space with all of its playful elements and lovely vignettes.

Beautiful studio! I *heart* the chalkboard calendar and all the lovely colors, plus the birds.
picture two makes me swoon, love all the storage and card catalog cabinet.
I built my own chalkboard and I am loving it.
mirandabee- I saw a interesting way to build your own calendar. Go to a salvage yard and find an old six pane window, then go and get a piece of MDF and have cut to the size of the entire window, paint the MDF with chalkboard paint and paint the window frame a color of you're liking, you may need to do a light sanding and add a coat of primer before painting, take 1" nails and nail the Mdf now chalkboard behind the window .then you will have a six day calendar, Sundays are for resting right?
