White Enamel Four-P...
droooool over that first pic!
I like referential retro, but 1 and 3 are so literal they look like sets for Mad Men.
While the yellow pictured above is lovely, it strikes me more as sunshine yellow and more summery in spirit (with the exception of the second photo). To me, autumnal yellow is moodier, more golden, less sunshine. Something like mustard or amber. Like the second photo.
gorgeus.
The dining room in the first pic is totally hideous. It looks like an unfinished room abandoned by previous owners or something. If some trendy designer hadn't done it, you would all be chiming in with how tacky, garish, mismatched, and impersonal it is. Despite the yellow, it's cold in feeling.
The bedroom in the second pic is nice, but those uneven bedposts are just too contrived and the artwork needs help. I love the colors in the third pic, but that ottoman is ridiculously ugly and the room overall is very studied and formal to the point of being boring, despite the bright colors! The room in the last picture is just awful and well... ICK.
The only vignette worth sharing is in the fourth pic. Now that is fun, uplifting, and just lovely.
*sigh*
I hate yellow. I really do.
I used to love it, when I was 12, we painted my bedroom that color, and just repainted it last summer when I got my stuff out.
BUT I do agree with @bookgirl: fall yellows are a little less "sunshine" and more moody. For me, they are more bearable.
Odd how much I dislike yellow, because I LOVE orange!
... And #2 is just orange/gold enough for me to really like it!
That yellow hurts my eyes.
I am grooving on those yellow chairs in the first pick. Sweet.
Love that wall paper. At first look it is so like the bedroom walls of my grandmother's house in 1950's I could fall asleep right now. I loved that house and the whole idea of wall paper even then.
I don't know, I've always associated yellow with summer. Associating it with autumn is just... wrong, for me - autumn is more mustard/orange tones, and reds.
Having said that, none of these really grab me, unfortunately.
chandelier in # 1? yes.
Totally agree with CityChik about pic #1. I'd cry my eyes out every day if I had to look at that vast expanse of FUGLY wallpaper.
When we moved into the new house, we went out on a limb and picked Stuart Gold for the living/dining room... and haven't regretted it at all. In some light it can look a bit icky (I'm looking at you, overly white CFL's), but overall, it's been a joy.
I don't see golden yellow in #4. The door looks green to me! I like golden yellows and use them for a summer garden feeling year-round.
