Maybe it's because I'm painting my kitchen, and possibly my bedroom gray — but I just can't get enough. I kind of wish I could paint all the rooms in my house gray! The color has so much depth and can evoke so many different moods. Gray doesn't always mean dark and dreary!
Gray in the bedroom is relaxing and calming, while in the living room it can be fresh and airy. In the bathroom it can be tranquil and modern, but in the dining room it can be romantic and bold. Gray is one of the most versatile colors that is severely underrated. People are scared of gray, and we're doing some PR for it!
Lighten up, go grab a gallon of gray!

Tres chic. Love the drama it evokes.
I have condo that gets a ton of sun, so I think I am going to paint it grey..paint the kitchen cabinets a darker grey and add a yellow chandelier. Can't wait! Thanks for the great inspirational photos...
this is an extemely timely post for me. we had our bedroom painted (the wrong) gray two weeks ago. we are now living with different gray swatches all over the bedroom trying to determine the right gray. gray is very tricky - which I did not realize prior. it's amazing how much it changes in light - and our bedroom is sun-flooded, so a challenge. but I am so in love with the idea of a tranquil gray bedroom I will perservere and find the perfect gray!
The person who owned my house before me painted both bedroom celinigs as well as the bathroom and ceiling a pale slightly lilacish grey. I would have never thought of picking that color for a ceiling, but love it.
Does anyone know where the large yellow lamp is from?
We just painted our living room gray. I am just not sure about it now. It changes so much with the light in the room. At night it feels just right, but during the day it looks almost white.
grey+yellow=love
OMG! I was just thinking of painting my living room gray! Now I'm definitely going to do it. These look fantastic.
I'm going with Benjamin Moore's Chelsea gray.
i have four rooms in my house painted various shades of grey. the most successful is in an east-facing bedroom: benjamin moore nimbus.
I'm excited to be able to paint my bedroom grey, and will be doing so sometime this month (hopefully)!
(I'm also excited that I'm not the only commenter who spells it with the ever-sexier "e".)
I just remodeled my entire child-hood home. I am not currently living in it but rather using it as a rental property so I decided to go with a palette of neutrals. I painted the entire downstairs a light gray and the bedrooms a perfect color of greige (grey and beige). I'm pretty obsessed and my new tenants are ecstatic! Grey is definately the new neutral!
I am completely obsessed with grey.... I feel like it is so sophisticated! I am using it in my dining/ living room as well: http://northonharper.com/2010/09/the-perfectly-dark-abyss/
lovely post!
Gray is my favorite neutral, even when I'm picking clothes and accesories. I didn't even realize it's the "in" color for this season. I'm looking to paint my bedroom gray and use persimmon as an accent color.
"Gray doesn't always mean dark and dreary!"
Actually, yes, it does.
my husband has declared that i need a gray intervention. i think we have 6 different grays (including gray kitchen cabinets) in our house right now and i'm planning yet another room makeover with gray walls.
I heart grey! I love the picture of the dining room! We recently painted our living room, stairwell, and hallway grey. Porpoise by Behr.
The yellow lamp is the Twiggy Floor Lamp by Foscarini. They are really sweet and cost about $2300.00 USD.

Whoa, this is trippy. We just bought a beautiful grey house back East and I am so in love with the colour palette that I'm not letting my mother repaint it, which means we're getting rid of 80% of our furniture and getting more modern, zen-y style stuff. I never used to like grey but this house has the most amazing neutral shade of grey, it's very bright and cheery and soothing and refreshing which is something I never equated with the colour grey.
we have a grey living room and a grey guest room. we love them both! the grey in the LR is canyon echo grey by glidden. it's very airy and calming. the grey in the BR is kendall charcoal by benjamin moore. i have mixed feelings about it- i wish it had more of a jeweled undertone, since it's so dark, but since it doesn't it appears to be somewhat flat. so we're working with that issue by using glossy colored items throughout.
Does anyone know what desk and chair those are and how much they cost?
I wish I had time and space to make a Steeler's Football office for my husband in the grey and yellow. It looks so classy and his memorabilia wouldn't look so trashy.

Just painted my bedroom Benjamin Moore's Stonington Gray and I am in love! My accent pieces are in jewel tones: purple, blue, and green. I positively giggle when I walk into my room.
