Light fixtures are huge statement pieces whether we realize it or not. When you walk into a room, lighting is one of the most important and impactful elements. Not only because the amount of light sets the mood for the space but the light fixture sets its own mood as well.
Hanging light fixtures can work in any room in the house: the bedroom, kitchen, office — you name it. It's easy to transform a room through the eyes of a hanging light fixture. Go for a retro look with a bold and even colorful light fixture as seen in images one and two or go super sleek and sophisticated with a stainless steel hanging fixture as seen in image five.
Hanging light fixtures can be used solo, in pairs as bedside lamps or grouped for a drastic look in the dining room. The great thing about hanging light fixtures is that they really do come in all shapes, colors and sizes. There's truly one for everyone.
What's your favorite hanging light fixture?

Nomade Express Slee...
My favorite hanging light fixture is the one I DIYed for my dining room. It's pretty simple, but always gets compliments.
That first picture is gorgeous but i will probably freak out every time I see that nakid woman when i wake up.
I love my vintage palm chandeliers. Unfortunately, I can't hang them until they are rewired. Does anyone in the DC area have any suggestions for where to take them? Thanks!
that last picture is great...a bust in the kitchen...I need to do that.
I think that stinkin' cute baby's smile lights up the dining room even more than the awesome modern lamp hanging above him/her. So adorable.
I received a Boontje Icarus pendant for Christmas, but it's still in the box because I don't want to bug my landlord about hardwiring it. A shame really, it's a thing of beauty!
That mannequin is freaky
I love the bedding mix in the first photo, nothing else. :(
Easier than painting is replacing light fixtures and re-wiring them. Although most every upgrade is to replace overhead fixtures with recessed lights, one day, preferences will shift back to these beauties. The advantage here is the ability to swap out the fixtures, something you cannot do w/ recessed.
That first photo is giving me bad flashbacks to the 70's . . . hideous, IMO.
I kinda like the lights in the first bedroom, but that mannequin would give me night terrors, every time I partially woke up and saw it glowing softly in the residual light from the street lamps.
I just bought the Knappa >.<
#4 is the firefly fixture from CB2. I have it in our dining room and love it! Everyone compliments it. Oddly, it blends well with our old house and modern decor :)
I love the bedroom in pic 1, the light fixtures are gorgeous. But, I guess whoever lives there doesn't read much in bed? I need a decent lighting as I am a bookworm and I read in bed for hours.
Source for the lanterns in the first photo? I can't find it on the blog listed. :(
Does anyone know of a source(s) for a fixture similar to the one in the third photo (above the baby)? I've been obsessed with it since I saw that house tour, but haven't come across anything in looking online. I know it's mentioned in the tour that the one pictured is original to the home.
