If you are a renter, especially in New York where many old buildings have been remodeled in odd ways, you’ve inevitably lived in or come across a space in your search for an apartment that seems strangely small. Keep in mind the kitchen nook! Drop a pendant lamp, throw down some pillows and pull up a chair. The kitchen nook is the perfect place to create a cozy corner for hosting wine and cheese nights, playing cards, or just reading the morning paper.

I LOVE the table in #3 - any idea on where to get one like it?
can't really picture having that many pillows next to my kitchen. it's cute, but if it were might house there would be spaghetti sauce ALL up in there.
Yeah, in my house there would be maple syrup all up in there! lol
@ohwoah-
Ha! I totally agree! In my house, the pillows would most likely be used as napkins! (Somehow, the pillows currently on our couch in the living room seem to be used as napkins at times.) I still love the look and feel of these kitchens, though (except the last one-I don't care for the thing hanging over the table) I would just have to make sure the pillows had covers that are easily removable and washable!
anyone know where to find the table runner in the 2nd picture?
@thorndale-
Lol, thank you for that observation. Now I can't look at it without thinking of Mousetrap!
kitchen nook, breakfast area is my favorite place in any house.
Love love love the seat in #2.
*sigh* I've always wanted a kitchen with a cute nook like these. Maybe in my next apt...
Love no.1!
I love the booth!
No 1 looks happy and cozy, love it!
oh number 6... luv it!!!
I always love the cozy look of nooks...minus the silly pillows...but have never sat in one that was really comfortable and find it super-awkward trying to shuffle in, especially next to someone as you have to do in diners. The backs are always too upright for me, and there usually isn't enough room to wedge in a lumbar support, nevermind a decorative one. However completely pro-having a comfortable place in the kitchen to sit.
@thorndale & @sororitysheep-
thank god i'm not the only one who finds that photo ridiculous.
We have a great nook area in our rental, but I need to find some benches (or someone who's able to make them from scratch). These pictures are lighting a fire for me to start that search.
Anyone here in the LA area who can help me out?
Liz, my husband and I built a storage bench for an awkward nook in our kitchen. It was an easy weekend project. Making a cushion for it is another story, but it's totally a do-able DIY.
That first one is so cozy and imperfect (which makes it perfect). Love.
Love the table in #3.
Best post ever???
I have the greatest little set up ,just one step down from my kitchen i have a little conservatory ,i have filled it with some of my favourite things ,comfy chairs etc ,it gets the sun all morning ,its a great little extra space .
Gorgeous.. the first is a bit too messy for my taste but I wish I was laid back enough to live in that nook.
After WAY too much research, I found that the table from #3 is the Heritage Pedestal Table from McGuire Furniture
Unfortunately, the price starts at $3300 - I guess that it's staying on the "love but not going to buy list"!!!
