Inspiration: Holy Mountain

If we could add to Gregory's Top 10 Decor Inspiration Films, we'd probably include Alejandro Jodorowsky's 1973 surrealist fantasy film, Holy Mountain. While this shocking satire will definitely not be everyone's cup of tea, at the least, most can agree that the movie's breathtaking scenes could generate a few stunning, albeit bold, ideas for home decor. After the jump, we share a few more of our favorite decor-inspiring scenes from the film.

An unrated cult classic, this film has several scenes that are extremely shocking, strange, and grotesque. Many of the shots from the movie are NSFW, but we've chosen a few that aren't too risque.

Aside from Jodorowsky's use of outrageous and imaginative imagery, what struck us most about Holy Mountain is his brilliant use of color. This feast for the eyes features stark primary colors that only help to enliven the fantastic sets and costumes. What we'd give to see someone successfully pull off that rainbow paint job in their home!

I got this movie by mistake from Netflix when I ordered another movie called "Holy Mountain," (one of those weird
German mountain movies made between the World Wars like "The White Hell of Pitz Palu".)

It's compelling but it is GROSS in parts so if you are captivated by these attractive screenshots but otherwise not so fond of such things, don't watch it for the decor.

I never did get the other movie. I don't think Netflix actually has it.

It's an amazing movie. Delicate balance of drugs, millions of dollars (funded, yes, by the Beatles' Apple Records) and an amazingly wild but real imagination.

Yes, it is an amazing movie but not for everyone. I would not say avoid it because I love it, I simply would say, be careful! Your mind might not be ready for Jodorowsky's intricate brain.
