In our last place we had a an old Murphy Bed Alcove (without the bed) and always wondered if we could custom make a couch to fit right into it. We had always pictured something like the daybed at Gregory's but in the latest issue of Domino we saw an even better idea:
Thom Filicia's place on the East Coast had a great cabin feel without any of the kitsch and we loved (loved!) the alcoves he built throughout the house to tuck in sofas and beds. They have just the right amount of cozy and the right amount of luxury to not feel shoved against the wall like a foot into a too-small shoe.
We got as far as building a plywood platform that fit into the alcove but never decided on the cushion, opting instead to put the tv on it. Now we wish we still lived in the apartment and could put this look to work.
