In a recession (or any time, really) paint is one of the cheapest ways to spruce up a room. We stumbled across some photos from British purveyor Crown Paint that sparked a few ideas...

A fresh coat of white paint is almost always a good way to clean up a room and let in some light.

Don't discount staircases when considering your next paint job. With the right treatment, they can become a home's focal point.

Orange is a dramatic backdrop in a room full of white furnishings. We also love the way the dark accessories play off the wall color.

The larger-than-life lamp coordinates with an oversized plaid paint job. Rose pink coordinates a mix of patterns and textures.

This green bedroom is very soothing. We also love the sheepskin thrown over the headboard and the neutral bedding.

I love that pink green and grey rug too!
I love the stool in the first pic...very odd...it reminds me of a brush...
I love that orange color. It would look great with the aubergine color in our living room.
