Since we're talking about dining rooms this month, we have to re-post another favorite. Ever since we first saw this photo in a book ages ago, we've loved it. The whimsical circus-type lights, the industrial pendants, the vintage poster, the huge table, the vintage chairs, the Jielde lamp...
It makes us wish we lived in a funky old apartment where we could do something similar.

Love all the lighting, love the chairs...wish I could find some like that.
Who is that in the painting? It looks a bit like Norma Shearer.
Damn what a great shot....nice twist of elements.
Love it! The circus lights remind me of Pete's Candy Store in Williamsburg.
Love those chairs! What are they? Ali
Apparently its just me, but I really think the bulbs and the way the light fixtures are installed over the table look silly and unfinished. Just my opinion.
yeah, it's just you
no, it's not just you.
I like it!
No, it's not just you, Glam Girl.
I love the other aspects of the room, but I'm not digging the circus lights. It gives it a "we got these at Urban Outfitters and put them up for our beer bash" sort of feel.
i love it too. has a lot of character.
What's not to like?

when design takes priority, the result is often strange closets.
I am imaging those pendents at night and sitting around the dinner table the feel would like lets play doctor, not liking it.
The chairs and tables are great. The two lights above the table give me seem too close to peoples head and would give me a sense of claustrophobia.
Ideal for a pool/snooker or card table but not so sure about a dining room table.

This is beautiful!
I'd love to the the rest of this house!
"I am imaging those pendents at night and sitting around the dinner table the feel would be like lets play doctor, not liking it."
What's not to like about playing doctor?! Haha, kidding of course...kind of.
Anyway, I really love this room and bet it feels calm at night, but I think I'd like the pendant lamps even more if the wires were a little cleaner. But overall it looks great!
I love industrial accents with a herringbone parquet floor. And white walls, and tons of light. But the colored lights are, for me, the best part. I have been dying to figure out how to do this myself with some mercury-dipped bulbs. Does anyone know how to daisy-chain surface-mount wall sockets like these?
This can't be a US apartment. I love those floors, the windows, the portrait and of course the colorful lights.
This is a beautiful dream. I wish we could see the rest.
Where do you get those multicolored "circus" lights?
Is anyone else having issues going to emma's design blog? I used to be able to go to her site, but in the past couple of months it hasn't been working.
Just realized it's only not working with Firefox, but it works in IE.
