When it comes to mixing different design styles and eras, there's a fine line between inspired and overwhelming. We think this room manages to dance all over that line, though, for a magical result.
If someone showed us a color chip of this pink, we'd be hard-pressed to come up with much other than some kind of fairy princess room. But we love the play with the chartreuse of the chairs and the graphic rug. The embellished sconces juxtaposed with the convex mirror and modern chandelier shouldn't quite add up so well, but they do. Maybe it's just us, though - what do you think?

Refreshing.
That chandelier is to die for.
Very nice.
Yes, it reminds me of the chandelier at the Metropolitan Opera, which is excellent. I don't know that I love this room as a whole, though I'm working toward something of this mindset. If it were just me, my apartment would be much cleaner and simpler, but my roommmate likes a lot of 'stuff.' I'm trying to find middle ground where we can both be happy.
Ghastly.
Very striking. Just add text graphics and this could easily be the cover of a design magazine or book.
This is yummy. I want.
This room has character. It reflects the personality and good taste of its owner. Just chic.
I love it...this would make me very happy
I love this room - I'd never get bored with a room like this...
..and it seems like a very inviting & comfortable environment for a dinner party.
wow, my eyes received a shot of happiness at first sight. i wouldn't have this in my home but i do love seeing it. thanks!
anyone know where the rub is from?
Oops. I meant rug.
Not crazy about the chartreuse chairs...would look better done in teal or a small b/w print.
I wouldn't want to live there, yet it is VERY interesting to look at in the picture - not unattractive at all, just not my taste.
Interesting, but I would tire of it in about a week if it were in my home.
Love it. Betsy Johnson's apartment, right? I've been wanting those platner chairs ever since I saw her apartment in a magazine.
First time I've seen a pink wall that for some reason I actually like. Classically funky.
I'm in love! I walk out of my black/white/grey/chartreuse bedroom into a pink hallway every day. If only it looked this grand, though!
Too much. I think what bothers me is the stuff on the table and the chandelier fights with the sconces.
It is, in fact, Betsey Johnson's apartment.
Very nice! We moved into a place with a little studio that had walls that were this color. The hubby couldn't stand them, but I loved them. I found the color to be extremely livable, peaceful and calming. I love it with the chartreuse here. Go, Betsey!
haha soooo betsey johnson. I like to look at her clothes but i would never ever wear them. kind of like this room.
love it.
First thing I've ever liked from Bestsy Johnnson. Great room!
Surprisingly sedate for Betsy Johnson. Couldn't live there (like that), but love her iconoclastic exuberance. She rocks it!
Good thing she's known in the design world, otherwise I'd think a $3.6M greenwich village penthouse in powder puff pink would be a hard visual sell. Then again, anyone plunking down that kind of cash is wanting the location and a remodel.
Makes me think of potential interiors from The Brady Bunch: "Episode #016-Mike's Horror-Scope Carol reads Mike's horoscope about a strange woman who will come into his life. Enter Beebe Gallini, the glamorous head of a cosmetics firm, who hires Mike to design a new factory in the shape of a powder puff. Guest appearance by bombshell Abbe Lane."
Ugh, I cant stand it.
It's great. And the chairs are amazing.
It's so not me, yet I love it, esp. knowing it's Betsey. It's beautifully done and so very her.
i've always always wanted to paint my walls pink. it makes everything pop.
