Some thoughts on pale blue walls, inspired by the lovely bedrooms pictured above (from left to right):
• 1 Pale blue is a great backdrop for graphic print accents in orange or red. It also goes beautifully with warm wood tones in furniture or flooring.
• 2 Soft blues are excellent for bedrooms because they're calming, encouraging sleep, but also cheerful and pleasant for the morning.
• 3 Pale blue with white trim is a classic pairing that brings a very country-chic energy into a room without being too cute or cloying.
• 4 A blue with a bit of green feels sort of "old world" and has a nice femininity.
• 5 A brighter, more saturated blue looks great paired with a darker green in the olive family. Bold pairings like this might seem tough to pull off, but with lots of quirky personal touches, the room feels well-balanced.

Ours is a light blue with gray undertones--I think it's Benjamin Moore's Harbor Fog--and it looks great 24/7, 365 days per year. It is light and airy.
Mine is the a cornflower blue- slightly darker thank #2. As a rule, I can only have blue paint in the bedroom. It is very soothing and I feel like I am gently emerging from underwater when I wake up. The blue is a very nice backdrop for large brightly colored artwork.
Anybody know the source for the gorgeous quilt in photo 4?
this shade of blue is one of my favorites! i also recently blogged about the versatility of this shade of blue last month (http://www.thelateafternoon.com/tiffanys-blue). unfortunately, i dont have a room this color (i wish i could in my rented apt!), however, i do have a wooden dining table painted this color. it looks great and adds a unique dash of color to our dining area.
i am obsessed with blue. my own bedroom is pale blue & chocolate brown. nothing soothes me more than pale blue. i LOVE photo #4--the headboard, the lamps, the nightstands--it's perfect!
we just painted our bedroom blue, with a green hint and we have old wood moldings. the colors are beautiful together! i think i may do orange as the accent color! thanks
I just love pale blue bedrooms! In the home I grew up in, we stripped off the wallpaper when I was in junior high school, and the room was painted something called "china blue"-I loved it!
I love a blue bedroom. I just recently re-did mine from the awful hospital green it used to be to a more tropical light blue called "Belize." J'adore: http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/rudebega/IMG_0079.jpg
I, too, have a blue bedroom and LOVE it! I went with Glidden Quiet Rain. After reading everyone's blue's from Ben Moore I'm feeling the itch to paint again...
I am just about ready to paint my bedroom a pale blue. Thanks for the article. Lots of good inspiration here.
(I had a blue bedroom in my previous house, also, but now I am thinking about doing a new shade of blue. And possibly doing a stripe or chair rail effect, or a wavy line along the top of the room.)
Fun!
I LOVE pale blue in bedrooms, but it is NOT EASY to get it right. It needs, as some have suggested, a touch of another color, or else you end up with "Baby Boy Nursery."
I like my blue bedrooms with just a touch of black or green in the paint composition:

And personally, if shooting for an all-blue bedroom, start with the bedding and window treatments first.
Blue is my favorite color for a bedroom - right now ours is blueish-grey...and I love it!

I have Behr's Celtic Gray in my room - LOVE IT!
Just painted my bedroom a light robin's egg blue (Valspar's Blue Whisper) during the Cure with all white curtains and bedding...it's like waking up in a cloud! Love it!
To avoid the baby blue problem, I recommend Serenity by Benjamin Moore. Lots of depth and a hint of green.
I really want my next bedroom to be pale blue. I love 1 & 3!
