Inspiration: Poppies Melbourne

11th of November is Remembrance Day here in Australia, Canada and the UK. On this day, we choose to take a moments silence and to wear a red poppy close to our heart in support of those who fought and sacrificed everything. While we do this on a dedicated day, decorating your home with poppies is beautiful and a small all year round reminder of this special day.

It's Veteran's Day in the US, as well. Do you know where the significance of poppies came from?

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,

Poppies became a symbol of remembrance because there was an abundance of them in the Flanders Field where soldiers where buried.

In Canada, poppies are significant because they grew on the battlefields in France. There is a very special poem about them.
