We've been seeing so many wonderful garden spaces here on Apartment Therapy lately but where we live we only have a small shared outdoor space so an outdoor garden is really out of the picture. What we do have is a large South facing bow front window just waiting for some plants. The above image of a courtyard in a private home in Japan by Ryue Nishizawa gives us inspiration for how to approach interior plantings...
With a nice balance between branches, leafy greens, and flowers this delicate planting has lots of texture and variation while maintaining an overall weightless feeling. The variations in the pot sizes and colors adds interest when the plants may not be blooming.
One of the last things we feel we need to do to make out apartment feel more like a home is to green up the interior. Another plus to the interior potted plants is we can enjoy them all year round!
