Inspiration: Retropolitan

My favorite part of the Elle Decoration blog is that they'll often post photos that are amazing and beautiful, but that didn't make the cut for the printed edition. Like the shot above (and after the jump!), which they've coined as having a "retropolitan" look. We agree!

Does "Retropolitan" = 1970's?

Don't get me wrong, I dig it - but I also dig orange/yellow shag carpet. I'm totally being serious.

I am digging the art on the wall that is an audio wave form. I wonder if it is something specific or a random word or sound?

I love the waveform on the wall! I work with audio at my job, and I'd love to have something like that.

that robsjohn gibbings mesa table costs more than all the furniture in mine or many people's homes ($40,000-60,000 retail or auction). in that dated room, it doesn't strike me as money well spent. still, it's nice to see where very expensive midcentury pieces end up. that said, the bathrooms and bedrooms are aspirational.
