Round rugs are an unexpected counter to the more conventional rectangle. Just that unusual twist on the shape can enliven the experience of a room. Take a look:

The circular shape of the rugs in these examples offsets the rectalinear nature of floors, walls, openings, and much of the furniture. Additionally, in living rooms, the shape seems to enhance the coziness and intimacy of the seating arrangements.
