It's important to create spaces that you want to come home to and we like to start with getting the entryway just right. Welcoming and cozy, we wouldn't mind chatting with a visitor or taking a phone call from a long distance friend in Sandy's comfortable entry. Sandy demonstrates that you don't need a ton of space to have an efficient space. Placing the desk perpendicular to the wall creates a cozy spot instantly. All of her important tools for working are directly behind her and to her right and we love the use of baskets to store supplies. A charming table lamp and colorful flowers make this spot a place you'll want to work.

I have been looking for a bench or shelf like that with two or three baskets... to keep shoes right on the entry way. Any idea where I can get it? I have not seen anything like this in local craigslist or yard sales.
Pier One often seems to have those benches with baskets. Not yard sale prices, but usually pretty affordable, and they have a lot of sales.
My father is a retired steel worker and made this shelf many years ago. I repainted it and found the baskets at Pier 1.

If you're in Canada, RONA has unfinished pine benches like the one shown in the photo. Not too expensive -- around $90 plus tax.
I painted mine dark chocolate brown using Benjamin Moore paint (the Aura branc which was amazing).
