I like the idea of a small sofa at the foot of the bed. Often a good fit for narrow studio apartments, a love seat can be used to divide up a single room into two living areas. If you have a bedroom big enough to accommodate the extra seating, it can also make for a great footboard or simply a nice place to sit down and tie your shoes.

Love 3&5. I could see this being done with a small loveseat, especially in a studio apartment.
Agreed, it's an interesting, elegant idea for big bedrooms or for studios.
I like the look, but knowing me, it would soon be covered in clothing. Nevermind that in reality it wouldn't even fit.
i've considered this for my studio because it doesn't have any usable corners but it never really works. The bed+couch combo would protrude to far into the rest of the space and could never be centered...the layout of my studio is just tragic. also, i shouldn't have a queen sized bed, a loveseat and matching daybed, a proper desk (as opposed to a table which would serve multiple functions) and a plush chair. i spend more time on floorplanner then i care to admit.
I have a wee bench at the end of my bed. It's seating, a place to put the laundry baskets as I fold, a place to drop that day's re-wearables, and often a place for the kitty to sleep.
whenever i was watching my parents dog, i would drag the dinky little sofa in from the other room so he could use it to jump up onto the bed. :) i kind of liked it there (and so did he).
I love this idea. I wish I could put it to use in my tiny studio apt. Unfortunately, the only wall it would work on houses the A/C sleeve and the radiator. Phooey!
I don't love this look-- I think it's because there's just too much going on upholstery-wise; it looks chunky, esp in a small place. But I do love the small bench idea.
I love 1 & 2. I'd definitely do this if I had the space.
I love all the rooms. If I had the space, I would have the same look. In my last house, I had a bigger master suite, and had a bench at the foot of the bed; I loved it.
Can anyone ID the rug in the first pic??? Or any suggestions for one with a similar color scheme around 6'x9'.
I agree with olegrrl. I think a bench is a more subtle approach.
I love pic 6....
I could see the usefulness of a small bench at the foot of a bed but otherwise, I don't get the need to have a couch in the bedroom. Just an extra space for junk to collect, as far as I'm concerned....
I LOVE this idea. Number one is phenomenal; the deep blue velvet is perfect. I will certainly keep this in mind although it is not feasible in my current space.
@AT: Marry me.
I'm not crazy about these. A bench would serve the same purpose and look cleaner I think.
or what olegrrl said!
I've always wanted a bedroom large enough for a sofa at the foot of the bed...
I don't want a full-blown sofa at the end of my double bed, but I'd love a backless couch (what're they called?) or ideally a bench.
I've been looking for one lately, and having a really hard time! I want something very sturdy, but graceful, and ideally black/white/gray. Prints are fine as long as they're unobtrusive -- I don't want this as a statement piece.
Might anyone have any leads? Thanks!
I love the idea of having a sofa at the end of the bed, but I've always wondered how much use of it I would really get.
Oh thank you! I have been living for 4 years with a freakishly huge bedroom and never thought of this. safe to say I'll be moving furniture this weekend.

I had a very small 1920s loveseat at the foot of my bed for awhile ($50 on craigslist!). I loved the look and function. Our cats liked it, too. But it WAS kind of a pain to make the bed -- I had to stand on it. I recently moved it to another spot in the room.
I think that in most cases, the sofa is too much... a bench works best.
I like this idea - wish I had the space for it! Here's another one: http://www.katielydoninteriors.com/portfolio_white.html
In a bedroom, I would prefer a bench with storage at foot of bed, if I ever had room, to store extra quilts and blankets handy.
The couch at foot of bed thing works really well in a narrow studio that is actually long enough to have a separate seating area at the end.
I'm looking into this as an option for my bedroom...but love the look of it.
The setup in pic #4 is a Thumbs Down! This only seems to work when the bed or the headboard is bigger than the sofa.
