For those of us who have adult beds in kid-sized rooms, cleaning under said bed can turn into a bit of a contortionist act. Which is why I'm in love with the idea of a suspended bed. They can be handmade from recycled material, and they increase airflow which means less cleaning and better air quality. And I can only imagine an amazing night's sleep! Here are 7 suspended beds that have me thinking 'there is a better way!'

1. This hanging bed by Ben Riddering was made using reclaimed timber and modified hardware.
2. I saw this gorgeous hanging bed on Even Cleveland and immediately got to wondering how I could get my own.
3.These beds from The Bumper Crop are based on this design by Ana White.
4. This cute pair of single beds make such great use of the available space. Via interiorly
5. This floating bed comes in three sizes.

6. Le Beanock beds look so comfortable for daytime snoozing that I'm already sourcing some old canvas!
7. This platform bed is such a simple design that I'm starting to think I might actually be able to make this happen. Via affair with color

We rented a vacation place a few years back that had a suspended bed. Bed was beautiful but it was the worst bed I ever tried to sleep in. It was difficult to get into (it moved) and every time my SO rolled over, the whole bed moved. I'd NEVER have a suspended bed. I'll keep my stationery platform bed, thank you very much.
I can't see how these would be any easier to sweep under. You still have to crouch down, slide the broom around, and maybe this bed will even swing back and hit you in the head. These seem ridiculous.
I think of other uses of my bed before the sweeping issue. A swiffer with a long handle takes care of that. Imagine this bed in active use. Yeesh.
I LOVE! but I'd be scared if I was umm - restless and the bed came crashing down....
Would it be as good as a waterbed?
Er, how would one deal with it while ... clearly these people don't have a love life, or they have some seriously damaged nearby walls/furniture.
Cool idea. Would love to test drive hanging bed to see if I could sleep in it. ...Great for Swingers ;)Brax
I'm actually OBSESSED with this idea right now..but not for the bedroom. This concept is clearly destined for a screened in porch y'all!
I would like to speak to the concerns that some have mentioned about hanging beds being unstable and hard to sleep in. I am a furniture builder, and have built hanging beds for some of my clients (for example, photo #1, top row in the above article). I posted an article on my blog yesterday about how I deal with the "sway" problem: http://benriddering.com/2012/06/20/put-your-hanging-bed-hang-ups-to-rest/
