Our home office is very important to us. We work from home, so we spend the better part of the day in ours. We only have one small window in our office and it certainly doesn't provide very much natural light. It would be so great if our walls were windows!
Lifehacker reader Iculookn recently had to think outside of the box when faced with the arrival of a new baby. The nursery was going to replace the office and they needed to get to thinking. They had a beautiful back balcony &mdash problem was that it wasn't enclosed, not a very good place for electronics.
They certainly didn't let a little dilemma like that stand in their way (ha!) and they got to work. They started by installing Chennai timber and stained it black to cover the existing tile. Then, they installed windows surrounding the balcony so that it would be enclosed. The great thing about the windows is that they do open &mdash so with a little effort, they can still get that open air balcony experience back.
The combination of the black floors, green plants and stainless steel desk is really eye catching, and proves to be a great working atmosphere. We love the set up of dual monitors, and great IKEA storage cabinet &mdash they definitely know design.
