We've all probably had that unfinished project lying around our home every now and then. Like a chair you bought off Craigslist that would be absolutely gorgeous if only you found the time/inspiration/fabric to recover it? Well if you've got one of these unfinished projects sitting in a corner somewhere, let the well-known eco-fabric company Mod Green Pod help inspire you! More after the jump!
We've posted before about the wonderful local upholstery company in Austin, Spruce. Bringing their talents to all sorts of residential and commercial upholstery projects, they also share their wealth of knowledge by offering weekend workshops on all sorts of topics, like how to recover basic dining chairs, build a bench and even recover furniture as green as possible.
Their most recent workshop was a eco-friendly upholstery class partnered with the lovely and eco-friendly fabric company Mod Green Pod (also based in Austin!). Using Mod Green Pod's fabric choices wasn't the only thing making these almost-new chairs green, organic stuffing and cleaning supplies were used to freshen up these furniture pieces.
On Mod Green Pod's blog you can see more before and after pictures of the stunning transformations as well as get tips on how to make the best out of your upholstery project (like using the secret weapon Bon Ami cleaner to get rust off of metal legs!). You can also get a visual inventory of the tools used to create these projects.
What are your secrets of upholstery, in terms of tools, cleaning supplies or methods? Have you used any of Mod Green Pod's fabric for upholstery or other home projects? Let us know!
