Here's an interesting idea to connect with nature. The June 2008 Martha Stewart features an article called "Sticks and Stones", which features several ideas on integrating natural elements into your decor. One of them is this fun wall treatment that consists of slicing a birch pole into thin disks and gluing them onto plywood panels to form a graphic mosaic...
We love how they placed longer segments to double as hooks to hang things. Check out more ideas they showed here. (via Abbey Goes Design Scouting)

want!!!!
I was very excited when I got the June issue. I love the pebble bathroom mat and the birch pencil holders. The wall of wood discs is a bit much for me, but there were a lot of ideas that would work well in a modern home. I have been looking for stumps to make the coffee table featured for a few months now.
Love the bush branch chandelier!!!
Totally unrelated to the birch disks but where can I find that rug?
That rug is similar to a Thomas Paul Dhurrie rug:

A little too rustic for my tastes.
It isn't my thing, but it's certainly inventive.
This is an old school display idea....It used to be manufactured in 2' X 2' sheets for retail interiors.
Meh....
