When this mom decided she wanted a play kitchen for her girls, she shopped around and discovered that retail play kitchens were (a) expensive and (b) limited. So, what's a mom to do? Build her own, of course. Without using wood or power tools, this mom managed to build the most elaborate cardboard kitchen I've ever seen. But that's only version 1.0! Wait til you see how she upgraded for version 2.0.
With the help of her eldest daughter, this mom "decorated" the cardboard kitchen, although to us it looks like a complete makeover. These lucky girls now have a sleek, modern kitchen complete with all the utensils and appliances they could desire.

I just love stuff like this.
Whoa.
The "glass-front" cupboard doors are especially inspired, I think.
1.0 was awesome all on its own, but 2.0 is IMPRESSIVE. Great job!
Is that a faux bois FABRIC cutting board!???
Get out of here. THIS IS AWESOME......
I was five when my brothers made me a cardboard box oven, with drawn-on burners and a door that dropped down. i loved it. then they put a sick bird in it overnight and he pooped in it.
the cutting board and most of the food, plates, pans, etc are all from ikea. I have them--they are awesome!
Awesome! Mom of the year.
Bravo!
Wow
ninja_neer, that's even more hilarious than this entire post.
This is great! On several levels.
It is an awesome design with great details.
It's cardboard and easy to dissemble when the girls grow out of it.
The mom did it together with her daughter! It bothers me that moms do those elaborate doll house designs and kitchen projects without apparent participating from the kid it is made for. They are hogging all the fun and creativity for themselves and the kids loose out even though they get a cute present at the end. In my opinion!
Again - this is great!
Beyond adorable. I am curious to know what kind of materials she used for the second version.
Way to go mom! It looks better than my real kitchen. Being cardboard, fabric and paper, it'l be easy to upgrade and remodel. And it can be done on time and on budget, as opposed to most kitchen remodels seen on AT ;-)

Cutest kitchen renovation ever!
Has anyone noticed it's also blocking the fire place? Child proofing and fun in one package :-) We already have a play kitchen or I'd be tempted to attempt this.
What a cool mom! Bravo!
I love this. So creative! It reminds me of Caine's Arcade.. oh the things we can create with card board!
