Whether you have a few pairs of shoes or a hundred pairs — keeping them organized can be tricky. Sure, there are shoe organizers at every major big box store, but not all of them are as creative or attractive as we want them to be. We thought it might be inspirational to turn to shoe lovers in the fashion industry and see how they organize their collections!
One of our favorite websites that mixes home interior and fashion, The Coveteur provided these five inspirational ways to organize and display shoes. We're noticing a trend and it's that you should really let the shoes speak for themselves. Keep the display simple by using simple white shelves, a vintage locker or even a window sill!
Our favorite and most unique display is from Yigal Azrouël and the fabulous vintage locker. The locker adds to the overall look and vibe of his space but still serves as a great organizational vessel because it secretly houses shoes that could potentially clutter the space. Here are some more of our favorites:
• Katherine Power
• Yigal Azrouël
• Sylvana Ward Durrett
• Eugene Tong
• Jane Keltner de Valle

Shaw's Original Fir...
I covet most of the shoes more than anything!
The problem with keeping shoes displayed this way is that they get dusty, etc. I keep mine in their boxes. Not too pretty- though I do try to orginize the boxes by color.
I love the second one! I keep my shoes in a cabinet I found on the side of the road.
I keep mine in onw big moving box. Not good at all, but I have too many shoes and too little room to put them up like in the examples.
Plus, living in a country that requires different shoes for each seasons quickly adds to the number of shoes, so throwing some away would not solve the issue either.
I keep mine in boxes at the bottom of the closet(s). In a previous home I had a shoe rack hanging on the wall of a hallway closet. You can find more ideas here http://dondehogar.blogspot.com/2010/08/y-los-zapatos-donde-los-guardamos.html
I have mine set up like photo #1 but alternating them backwards and forwards, instep to heel, to maximize space.
I used to be a total shoe whore, but I've drastically cut down in the last 7 years, coincidentally, my oldest (of 4) sons is almost 7.
I have more than enough to do now, I don't need to add "clean shoe shelves so they don't look like I live in a winter country and the snow is melting and there is nothing but mud to be found for km's around" thankyouverymuch.
i like number 5 too. so lovely.
Awesome inspiration. I finally have my shoes organized in a medium size bookshelf in my closet. I was looking for ways to get them out of boxes and found the bookshelf right outside my building. Purrrfect condition just needed some dusting.
I keep mine in an Expidit from Ikea, each cubbie is perfect for two pairs of shoes. I wear them often enough they don't get dusty and I like having them where I can see them.

I once heard someone say that the woman who does not have a large shoe collection probably collects bedding instead. Let's just say, I need help with my tiny linen closet!
Finding a place to store shoes really helps clear up hallway mess.
@t_violet....I also have Expedit and it is excellent not just for shoes but for storing all sorts of items such as magazines and even decorative items.
I'm not sure how inspirational the far right picture is though...Looks a lot like a standard Closet Mail shoe storage cubby to me!
